Do I need to have a partner to join the class?
Nope! Our classes are taught in a circle, and everyone changes partners every minute or so! There doesn't need to be the exact amount of Leads/Follows for our classes to flow.


Is it an option to dance just with my own partner?
Absolutely! Anyone who would prefer not to change partners can dance just outside the circle. 


Do I need to have dance experience?
Our classes suit everyone. If you've never danced a step before, come along to the Introduction Class, where we go over all of the basics.


Do I only participate in the Introduction Class if I'm new to Alley Catz Classes?
Everyone is welcome to dance as long as they are having fun! There is no formal invitation to join Intermediate and Advanced Classes - if you feel up for, give it a go! If you start a class, that doesn't mean you need to dance for the entire class - if you feel like you've been challenged enough, physically or mentally, you can pop out at any time. 


What do I wear?
Something comfortable that doesn't restrict your movement. Leaders- avoid singlets, Follows- avoid cropped tops. For the comfort of others we ask that skin is covered where your partner holds. 
Shoes - wear flat shoes that will give you some movement on the floor (eg. canvas sandshoes, dress shoes). Most sneakers are too grippy to spin. Alot of people wear purpose-built Rock n Roll shoes to classes, but they are not required to get started and can be an optional upgrade further down the line.


Do I need to bring a drink bottle?
It is recommended to bring along a water bottle. 
Our Sunshine venue has a bar to purchase other refreshments.
Lilydale, Glen Waverley and Wantirna has a help-yourself tea/coffee/cordial station.


Is there a joining fee? What is the cost?
There is no admin/joining fee to start with Alley Catz.
Entry fee $20 per person. It is a flat rate to dance as much or as little as you like. There is no additional cost to do more than one class of the night.
